Tourist-trap restaurants, fake “deals”: ask the community and JARI pros where the locals really go.
Beware of restaurants right next to the monuments (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Champs-Élysées): menus in 10 languages, photos of the dishes, touts at the door = often pricey and mediocre. Walk 5–10 min into a side street for something better and cheaper (our bistros).
“Skip-the-line” tickets resold in the street (often pricier than the official site), taxis that refuse the meter, “free” gifts pressed into your hand. Buy your tickets on the official sites (scams & safety).
The lunch menu, the bakery for a sandwich, the markets (our markets) and the eastern districts offer the best value. Where there are Parisians, it’s a good sign.
Golden rule: the closer to a monument and the more touristy, the pricier and more average. Move away a little, see where the locals eat, and ask the JARI community for its tested addresses. You’ll eat better for less.
