Vintage in Paris with the JARI community

Where to hunt, at what prices, which size: ask the community and JARI pros (and show your finds!).

The thrift street: rue de la Verrerie (Marais)

The starting point. Kilo Shop (69 rue de la Verrerie, 4th) sells vintage by weight: you pay by the kilo, not the piece. Right next door, Free’P’Star (61 rue de la Verrerie, and 20 rue de Rivoli) with its €10, €20 and €30 racks. You dig, you find — it’s the adventure.

For small budgets

Guerrisol (several shops, including Barbès and Rochechouart): the cheapest thrift in Paris, if you have patience and an eye.

The high end

For designer vintage (vintage Chanel, Dior), head to the Puces de Saint-Ouen (weekends) (see our perfect Sunday) and the sharp friperies of Belleville and the upper Marais.

JARI tip

Bring cash (some thrift shops dislike cards for small amounts), come on a weekday to avoid the crowd, and try everything on — French vintage sizes often run small. Set a budget before you walk into Kilo Shop: by weight, it adds up fast!
