Shopping in Paris with the JARI community

Where to find a brand, the tax refund, the sales periods: ask the community and JARI pros.

The department stores (Haussmann)

Galeries Lafayette Haussmann (40 bd Haussmann): the Art Nouveau dome, every designer, a free rooftop and a tax-refund desk in the basement. Right next door, Printemps (64 bd Haussmann), just as big, with its own free rooftop. Perfect for concentrating your shopping and refund in one place.

The Marais: indie and concept stores

  • Merci (111 bd Beaumarchais): the iconic concept store with the little red Fiat — fashion, homeware, stationery, café.
  • Sézane (l’Appartement, 1 rue Saint-Fiacre, 2nd): the booming French brand, as a showroom boutique.
  • BHV Marais (rue de Rivoli) for everything, from DIY to fashion.
  • The vintage shops (friperies) of the upper Marais and Belleville.

French brands to bring home

Sézane, Maje, Sandro, ba&sh, A.P.C., Petit Bateau: the “French girl” wardrobe, often cheaper here than abroad.

Left Bank

Le Bon Marché (24 rue de Sèvres, 7th), the chicest department store, and its Grande Épicerie food hall. Around it, Saint-Germain is full of boutiques (and City Pharma, steps away).

Sales & tax refund

The official sales (soldes) run twice a year (early January and late June), for four weeks — real discounts. For the tax refund (non-EU), spend over €100 per store, keep your passport, and validate at a PABLO kiosk at the airport.

JARI tip

Most shops close on Sundays, except the Marais and the department stores (open Sundays). Plan your Sunday shopping there.
