Smart Paris souvenirs: what to bring back

Bring back the right souvenir with the JARI community

What to gift, where to buy it without getting ripped off: ask the community and JARI pros.

Gourmet food (the gift that always works)

  • Dijon mustard (Maille, boutique on rue Royale or in supermarkets) and Bonne Maman jams.
  • Mariage Frères tea: the iconic black tins (Marco Polo, Earl Grey French Blue), in the Marais tea house.
  • Brittany salted-butter caramels, chocolates, biscuits — perfect for sharing.
  • All in one place: La Grande Épicerie at Le Bon Marché.

Beauty (the smart souvenir)

Pharmacy skincare (La Roche-Posay, Bioderma, Nuxe…) makes light, useful, cult-in-Korea gifts — see our City Pharma guide.

Stationery & design

  • Papier Tigre and Merci (Marais) for notebooks and design objects.
  • Monoprix: the chic supermarket with cult tote bags, treats and affordable homeware — the Parisians’ secret for cheap souvenirs.

Books & culture

A Shakespeare and Company stamp (37 rue de la Bûcherie) on a novel from the legendary English-language bookshop facing Notre-Dame: a (nearly) free, unique souvenir.

Good to know (bringing it back to Korea)

Wine and champagne travel well (in checked luggage, well wrapped). For cheese, go for vacuum-packed hard cheeses. Check Korean customs rules for alcohol and dairy before buying in bulk.

JARI tip

Avoid the souvenir shops right by the monuments (overpriced). Best value: the supermarket (Monoprix), gourmet grocers and pharmacies. And remember the tax refund if you spend over €100 per store.
