Paris markets: flea, flower and food

Paris markets with the JARI community

Which market, which day, how to haggle: ask the community and JARI pros.

The flower market (Île de la Cité)

The Marché aux fleurs Reine-Elizabeth II (37 place Louis Lépine, 4th), the most famous in Paris since 1808, open daily 9:30am–7pm. Flowers, plants and picturesque greenhouses in the heart of the city — a perfect backdrop, free to wander.

The Marché d’Aligre (12th)

A lively, down-to-earth market (Tue–Sun): cheap fruit and veg, the covered Beauvau market, and an open-air flea market to rummage. One of the most authentic in Paris.

The Marché Bastille (11th)

One of Paris’s biggest food markets, Thursday and Sunday mornings on boulevard Richard-Lenoir: producers, cheese, fish, street food. Perfect for a quality picnic.

The Marché des Enfants Rouges (Marais)

Paris’s oldest covered market (1615), for lunch across world food stalls (our food guide).

JARI tip

Markets are best in the morning (everything fresh, everything open). Bring cash and a tote bag, and keep your bag closed in front of you in the crowd. For antiques, the Puces de Saint-Ouen on weekends remain a must.
