In Paris, Sunday has its rules (many shops close). Here’s how to make it the best day — ask the JARI community for your tips.
Start at the Puces de Saint-Ouen (Clignancourt, 18th), the world’s largest antiques market, open Saturday–Monday. Hunt for vintage, homeware, vinyl. Métro Porte de Clignancourt (keep your bag close in the crowd).
Sunday is THE brunch day. Holybelly (Canal Saint-Martin) and its pancakes, or a spot in the Marais (our food guide). Book or come early: it fills up.
The Marais is one of the few areas where shops open on Sunday (guide): shopping, Musée Carnavalet (free), galleries. Otherwise, head to the Canal Saint-Martin: on Sundays the quays are pedestrianised (“Paris Respire”), perfect for a stroll (East Paris).
On the first Sunday of the month, many museums are free (Louvre, Orsay, Picasso; Carnavalet is free year-round) — busy, but unbeatable on budget. Still book a slot online.
Finish at the Parc de Belleville or a free rooftop (Galeries Lafayette, open Sunday 11am–7:30pm) for sunset.
On Sundays, many small shops and some services close, but museums, parks, the Marais, the Canal and the major sites stay open. Just check the hours — often shorter on Sundays.
